Creeper farming is one of the most reliable methods of obtaining large amounts of gunpowder, aside from farming ghasts and witches. You can either burn them using campfires or kill them with a Looting III sword which multiplies the drop rates significantly.

Charged creeper farming is a variant of creeper farming which produces charged creepers for later detonation to obtain a mob head.

When trapdoors are placed on a 2-block high ceiling, it lowers the height to 1 ¹³⁄₁₆ blocks high. This is tall enough to allow creepers to spawn, but short enough to prevent other mobs such as zombies and skeletons.
